Saturday, July 4

  • Kids on Bikes, 10–11 a.m., Paepcke Park. Children decorate their bikes at 10 and ride ahead of the parade. Helmets required, walking adults only.
  • Old Fashioned Fourth of July Parade, 11 a.m.–12 p.m., downtown core. Aspen’s longest-running civic tradition, dressed to the “1776” theme, running from Main Street through the downtown core.
  • BANDALOOP at the Wheeler Opera House, 1, 3, and 5 p.m. The internationally known vertical dance company performs three original works on the building’s facade.
  • Carnival, 12–8 p.m., Rio Grande Park. The free rides return for a second day.
  • Aspen Music Festival and School free concert, 4 p.m., Klein Music Tent. The AMFS band performs patriotic orchestral favorites.
  • Drone show, 9:30 p.m., over Aspen Mountain. Patriotic tributes and nods to Aspen’s history. Best viewing is from Wagner Park.

A parade detour and road closures run 7 a.m.–2 p.m., so plan to walk, bike, or take RFTA.
